Secondly, lasers can be produced using semiconductor packaging technology, and nitrogen sealing ensures that there is no condensation at low temperatures of -40°C. The volume and weight of the laser are very small. For a typical 1mJ laser, the laser head weighs no more than 20g. The wide application of miniaturized and highly reliable 1535nm eye-safe lasers in rangefinders will become an inevitable trend. 1535nm eye-safe lasers have been widely used in handheld ranging, gun aiming, pods, fuses and border monitoring.

 

The principle structure of the ranging system is shown in the figure below. It is mainly composed of four parts: laser emission module, optical transceiver system, laser receiving system and signal processing system. The eye-safe ranging system uses Er glass solid laser to generate 1535nm laser with 100μJ energy, low repetition rate and narrow pulse width, InGaAs APD as signal detection, and TDC for flight time measurement, so as to obtain accurate distance information.
