Compared with other CNC engraving machines, Laser Engraving Machines not only have a wide range of uses, but also have an engraving speed that is unmatched by other engraving machines. Fast engraving efficiency and exquisite engraving patterns are determined by the working principle of the engraving machine itself. So what is the working principle of laser engraving machine?
Laser Engraving Machine Principle
Dot matrix engraving
1) Dot matrix engraving is similar to high-definition dot matrix printing. The laser head swings left and right, each time engraving a line composed of a series of points, and then the laser head moves up and down at the same time to engrave multiple lines, and finally forms a full-page image or text. Scanned graphics, text and vectorized graphics can be engraved using dot matrix
2) Vector cutting
Unlike dot matrix engraving, vector cutting is performed on the outer contour of the image and text. We usually use this mode to perform penetration cutting on materials such as wood, acrylic grains, paper, etc., and can also perform marking operations on a variety of material surfaces.
3) Spot size
The laser beam spot size can be adjusted using lenses with different focal lengths. Small spot lenses are used for high-resolution engraving. Large spot lenses are used for lower resolution engraving, but for vector cutting they are the best choice. The new device comes standard with a 2.0-inch lens. Its spot size is in the middle, suitable for various occasions

4) Engraving strength
Engraving intensity refers to the intensity of the laser hitting the material surface. For a specific engraving speed, the greater the intensity, the greater the depth of the cut or engraving. You can adjust the intensity using the engraving machine panel or using the computer's print driver. In the range of 1% to 100%, the adjustment range is 1%. The greater the intensity, the greater the speed and the deeper the cutting depth.
5) Engraving speed
The engraving speed refers to the speed at which the laser head moves, usually expressed in IPS (inches per second). High speed brings high production efficiency. Speed is also used to control the depth of the cut, for a specific laser intensity, the slower the speed, the deeper the cut or engraving. You can adjust the speed using the engraving machine panel or using the computer's print driver. In the range of 1% to 100%, the adjustment range is 1%. The advanced motion control system of the Hummer machine allows you to still get ultra-fine engraving quality when engraving at high speed.
6) Engraving materials
Wood products, plexiglass, metal plates, glass, stone, crystal Corian, paper, two-color board, alumina, leather, resin, sprayed metal.
Two processing methods of laser engraving machine
1) Dot matrix engraving
Dot matrix engraving resembles high-definition dot matrix printing. The laser head swings left and right, each time engraving a line composed of a series of points, and then the laser head moves up and down at the same time to engrave multiple lines, and finally forms a full-page image or text. Scanned graphics, text and vectorized graphics can all be engraved using dot matrix.
2) Vector cutting
Unlike dot matrix engraving, vector cutting is performed on the outer contour of the image and text. We usually use this mode to perform penetration cutting on materials such as wood, acrylic grains, paper, etc., and can also perform marking operations on a variety of material surfaces.

Things to note when operating a laser engraving machine
1. Do not look directly at the laser when operating the machine. It is best to wear appropriate laser goggles/laser shields when necessary.
2. Try not to let your body enter the beam and its reflection range
3. When setting up the laser body, it is best not to be at the same height as our human eyes.
4. When working, you should first check whether there are reflective objects next to the processing object. If there are any reflective objects, they should be removed in time.
5. When using lasers in controllable areas, place a "Warning" sign next to it
6. Personnel who operate the laser must have received professional operating training before they are authorized to operate it. Those who operate the laser are not allowed to use the machine without permission.
7. When working, be sure to pay attention to whether the ventilation or exhaust conditions of the laser processing environment are good.
8. In order to prevent laser light from leaking out, the area around the beam path must be sealed.
